Hello everybody, please note that the date of our June MeetUp has changed from 6/7 to Thursday 6/14. On Thursday we'll be presenting and playing with the latest product from Digium, their Asterisk Appliance. Though not available for purchase yet, we've managed to get our hands on a beta version that looks great. Please RSVP and plan on joining us for another lively examination of all things Asterisk. Should you have any questions about the meeting room's location, duck into the FedEd/Kinkos at 16 East 52nd street and ask them to direct you to the teleconferencing rooms.

Greetings all, I'm afraid that, due to unforeseen circumstances, this evening's March Asterisk Meetup is cancelled. Apologies if this inconveniences anyone, but stay tuned for details on April's Meetup which will focus on SIP/VoIP termination services to the PSTN and feature speakers from leading providers. Best, -birch

Howdy and welcome back to another installment of the NYC Asterisk meetup. January's turnout was pretty dismal and I seriously hope that we can get both a better showing this month and a more realistic accounting of RSVPs. February's meeting will be focused on the significant changes afoot at Digium and what the ramifications are likely to be on Asterisk and the marketplace. For those of you who didn't catch it - Digium "announced yesterday announced key executive appointments including Danny J. Windham, former President, COO and Director of ADTRAN joining Digium as its CEO. Additional executive developments include naming Steve Harvey, former VP of Channel Sales and Competitive Service Providers for ADTRAN, to VP of Worldwide Sales for Digium. Mark Spencer, founder and formerly President of Digium was named to the newly created position of Chairman and CTO." http://www.digium.co m/en/mediacenter/new s/viewpress.php?id=d igium_CEO As some of you are aware, in addition to our work with Digium/Asterisk, SpecialAI has a deep history of working with ADTRAN and count them as one of our best longstanding cutomers. We're, frankly, very interested in what this reshuffling will yield. Please RSVP and plan on joining us next Thursday evening for another lively discussion of all things Asterisk. Thanks, -birch

Thanks to all who made it out for last night's meeting. While the turnout wasn't huge, the caliber of conversation far outsized the headcount. For those in attendance; thanks for your involvement, interest and the cookie QA testing. I've posted the Audicodes Astricon presentation in the files section as discussed. Everybody please mark your calenders; next month's Asterisk MeetUp will be Thursday, December 14th @ 7pm. It seems that some have been having difficulty finding the meeting. It is not within the Fedex/Kinkos ground foor storefront but, rather, on the second floor of the adjacent building (next door over towards Madison) in the Kinko's conference Rooms. There are many interesting ideas, presentations (Battle of the SIP Termination Services anyone?) and possible field trips in the works - let's work on getting membership and attendance up and take the NYC Asterisk Meetup to the next level. Stay tuned for December's presentation topic and, as always, have an excellent month. -birch

Thanks to the few, the brave, the committed who came out to October's Asterisk Meetup. Once again, we apologize for having to reschedule the planned presentation. Unless anyone else steps forward with something they are itching to present on, the first presentation in the "Fundamentals of Converged IP Network Design with Open Source" series WILL occur at November's Asterisk Meetup (11/9/06). Also of note; a number of the regular attendees will no doubt be heading down to Dallas for Astricon next week. Please keep your eyes peeled for business and technology advances that we can introduce the Meetup group to upon our return. See you on November 9th, -bks November's Topic: An Asterisk system only performs as well as the network that it runs on. In addition to our standard introductions and discussion, tonight's October Asterisk Meetup will include the first in a series of presentations focusing on "Fundamentals of Converged IP Network Design with Open Source". Please join us tonight for what is sure to be another interesting installment of our monthly NYC Asterisk Meetup.
